Promoted as a “Bonus Built” truck, the release of the new F-Series line in 1948 was the first new design from Ford since returning to civilian vehicle production after WWII. A number that designated the load capacity of the truck followed the “F” prefix. The F1was rated at ½ ton capacity, the F2 at ¾ ton, and the F3 rated as a 1 ton pickup. Model A Ford History The 'New Ford Car,' identified as the Model A, was first placed on exhibition in the Empire Room of the New York Waldorf on December 2, 1927. Orders far exceeded the supply. By mid-1928 output was to 4,000 cars per day, and still was not meeting demand. November 1928 production reached 6,435 cars per day.
